The Sport Club Mobili Lissone was founded in 1946 by a group of passionate cycling enthusiasts to follow local young talents and organise races. It was never a profit-making organisation.
Since its first year of foundation, it has prepared teams of amateurs, juniors, cadets, beginners and young people who competed in local, regional, national and international races. The successes achieved in these 68 years of activity are countless. On more than one occasion, the athletes have put on the shirt of the national team and became part of the Olympic team. Some amateurs also entered the professional category.
The organisation of races began in 1946 too and has never stopped since. The first race organised – that immediately got special attention – was dedicated to the greatest cycling champion of Lissone, Ugo Agostoni, well-known heroic cycling champion, and winner of the Milan-San Remo 1914.
Over time, the Agostoni achieved levels and importance, becoming, from an independent category race, a professional and international professionals’ race. In 1987, it was the fundamental race that allows Bruno Leali to get the Italian Road Champion title.
The greatest champions have signed its roll of honour: from Gimondi to Merckx, Zilioli, Bitossi, De Wlaeminck, Moser, Saronni, Battaglin, Fondriest, Konyshen, Bugno, Cassani, Tafi, Ullrich, Casagrande, Jalabert. Visconti, Gavazzi, Modolo, and Pozzato.
Together with the “Tre Valli Varesine” and “Coppa Bernocchi”, it is a part of the Lombardy Region Triptych.
Since 1996, the name “Giro delle Brianze” was added to “Coppa Agostoni” because it is the only race with the route Brianza – Monza and Lecco – a subregion that deserves a dedicated race, just like the major regions.
In 2001, the Sport Club Mobili was the co-organiser of the Italian Cycling Championships – Settimana Tricolore Brianza, with particular attention to the race that awarded the Italian Professionals title to Daniele Nardello.
In the 2005 Edition of the Tour of Italy, Lissone was the place of arrival of the 15th stage, Livigno-Lissone, of the rest day and the start of the next stage Lissone-Varazze.
